a studio update-type post

Yes, it’s true. We’ve decided to enter the realm of somewhat frequent updates on our studio efforts.

As we increase our online presence a little bit, we thought it might be nice to keep everyone up-to-date with anything interesting we have going on.

tl;dr for you

Oh, you’re busy. Here’s what’s up:

  • Work continues on our ghostly game. We’ve mostly dialed in the scope and will have more updates soon.
  • We were inspired by the wonderous displays put on by this year’s Magfest.
  • We’ve been playing Baldur’s Gate 3, again.
  • More content and posts about our game is coming soon.

game updates

We’ve (sort of, almost) announced our game on various social media. We’re bashful, but we’re trying to get over that. There should be more frequent updates as we have them.

In the past month we spent a good amount of time getting the game to a spot where a player might actually be able to complete an entire loop, win or lose.

If you didn’t know, our plan for this game is to have a multiplayer mode as well as a traditional single player experience. There are quite a few challenges with this, especially as we’ve been adding new features to the game.

Thankfully, the scope of the game is (probably) finalized… or so we keep telling ourselves.

We’ve also started going through and trying to make certain sections “feel” more like a game, by adding some visual and sound effects or background ambience to the game. Doing these things always gives us a new perspective on how the game plays!

other events and things

Half of our studio (that is to say, one of us) went to Magfest this past month. The indie games on display and speakers there are inspiring, everyone does a great job! Perhaps we will post about that, too.

what have we been playing?

Baldur’s Gate 3, apparently.

No, we aren’t playing it together, (our combined power in the same game session could cause issues with the space-time continuum) but we are both involved in multiplayer groups.

The single player is the best way to experience the story on your own terms, but the multiplayer is an exceptional way to pass the time with friends in a simultaneously casual and chaotic way, if you can tolerate them taking forever to read their spellbook.

what’s next?

One goal we’ve had this past month as things are coming together is to get a playable build out there in the wild.

Should have a plan for something sooner than later, fingers crossed…

Thanks as always for keeping in touch!
